MOUNTAIN RIVER HOUSE

This mountain retreat attempts to capture and retain a landscape. The singular boundary wall dictates aspect. Horizontal platforms are strategically positioned; both in the sun and out of the wind - perfect for the Tasmanian condition.

The house is an unapologetic contradiction within the undulating and seemingly unstable landscape. It's heavy presence counters the "lightly lightly" approach to site, celebrating a self-assuredness that is rarely witnessed in the Australian context.
